Topaz is a gemstone that is believed to give peace, confidence and intelligence. Topaz derived from Arabic word means “fire”. The Egyptians related it to the Sun god Ra and the Romans associate it with the planet Jupiter; the gem is the symbol of power to the ruler. The beautiful gemstone gives a cooling, styptic and appetizing effect. It is also said to dispel sadness, anger and nocturnal fears and warn the wearer of poisons by changing its color.
Topaz is mined as transparent yellow-white gemstone, as a perfect combination of fluorine aluminum silicate. Colored Topaz is either wine, pale gray or reddish-orange, blue brown. The color is then enhanced to give different hues however the most significant is the blue. Blue Topaz shade ranges from light oceanic blue of deeper shades of blue. The lightest shade on the spectrum is the Sky blue Topaz clear and soothing as the sky above, it is often mistaken with the Aquamarine gemstone. Darker and brighter is the Swiss Blue Topaz which is of coveted for its electric-neon color. The most intense and richest is the London Blue Topaz which generally comes in dark steel blue color.
